Google Project 10^100

Last year, as part of its 10th Birthday celebration, Google launched a very ambitious initiative called Project 10100. The purpose was to foster and reward ideas that could improve the world. $10 million will be shared among five selected ideas for the implementation of the projects (not the individuals who submitted the ideas).

AI Mashup Challenge in Paderborn

After hard competition the Mashup Challenge Board announced, Thursday September 17, 2009 its winners:

  1. AISearch, Bauhaus University, Weimar
  2. IBIS, Brandenburg University, Cottbus
  3. EpiSpider, CDC Atlanta
I was very happy to find students from Brandenburg University, Cottbus on the podium. They are Matthias Tylkowski and Roland Kölbel. Matthias study Information and Media technology and Roland e-Business technologies. The prize was offered by Linguatec.

Low chances for an online pay plan

"Publishers of general news would find it hard to charge for their content online because too much free content is available, the chief executive of Google Inc said on Thursday." 
I share its vision against the idea of charging for news. Is a new era of publishing and the large newspapers should find out a different business model rather to charge for news.
